Walking tour through past centuries

We walk through the wild and romantic canyon of Ravenna.

During this trip, you are going to hear a lot of stories about the history of the Black Forest:

• Do you know, with how many carriages the daughter of the Austrian emperior, Marie Antoinette, travelled through hells valley to France, to see her bride groom, the future king Ludwig XVI, in 1770?

• Why couldn’t they get any children for seven years?

• How did the people live 200 years ago in hells valley?

• Hava you ever been to the oldest parish church in the Black Forest?

• Which criminal act of the habitants of the little village Hinterzarten, was most avenged by the police in the 19th century?

• Do you know anything about the high treason process against the revolutionary owner of the inn, called Star?

• And how comes, they built the hells valley railway, after having planed it for more than 40 years?

Following the historical track through the Black Forest, you will get the answers to all these questions, and many more. We walk unhurried and have several breaks to get to know more about the historical events and sights.

The tour amounts approx. 10 kilometers (350 meters difference in altitude)

Duration approx. 6 hours

A small lunch packet is recommended, good footgear is necessary
